A former employee of Beast Industries, the media company established by YouTuber Jimmy Donaldson, known as MrBeast, has brought forth serious allegations against the organisation through a civil lawsuit filed in North Carolina. Lorrayne Mavromatis, in her claims, asserts that she experienced sexual harassment and discriminatory treatment during her tenure with the company.

Mavromatis’s lawsuit, which was formally filed on April 22, highlights grievances including inappropriate behaviour by CEO James Warren. She alleges that she was subjected to harassment and was treated unfavourably compared to her male colleagues. Following her formal complaint about these behaviours, she contends that she was demoted and ultimately let go from her position.

In a statement released by her legal representatives, Mavromatis expressed her frustration, stating, “This isn’t just about one moment. This is about everything that led up to it and the culture that made it possible. The expectation that women should go through things like this, stay quiet, accept it, and still show up with a smile. I’m not doing that anymore.”

In response to Mavromatis’s allegations, a spokesperson for Beast Industries dismissed her claims as unfounded. The representative characterised the accusations as “ridiculous” and suggested they had been fabricated to attract media attention. The spokesperson also responded to allegations regarding the health condition of Donaldson, mentioning that he has publicly disclosed his struggle with Crohn’s disease and accused Mavromatis of exploiting this for financial gain.
Mavromatis’s complaint indicates that she was hired as Head of Instagram in August 2022. During her year-long tenure, she earned promotions that more than doubled her salary. However, she alleges that inappropriate comments were made by Warren, one of which she described in her lawsuit involved being invited to a meeting in a “dimly lit” room at his home, where he purportedly made unwelcome remarks about her appearance.
Furthermore, her claims extend to personal experiences of workplace discrimination. Mavromatis recounts being asked to fetch drinks for Donaldson before video shoots, a request she claims was not directed at her male colleagues. Additionally, she alleges that when raising concerns in meetings, she was told to “shut up” by a male co-worker.
Significantly, Mavromatis highlights issues with the company’s employee handbook, which she claims lacked standard protocols and included inappropriate content. According to her, the document contained disturbing language that trivialised unacceptable behaviour, such as “It’s okay for the boys to be childish” and “no does not mean no.” In response, the Beast Industries spokesperson refuted this claim, asserting that Mavromatis had acknowledged receipt of a legitimate employee handbook a year later than she stated.
Mavromatis alleges that tension escalated when she reached a “tipping point” in November 2023 and formally lodged her complaints with Susan Parishe, Donaldson’s mother and head of human resources. After being informed that her claims were deemed “unsubstantiated” following an internal investigation, she states that she was demoted in a move she describes as retaliatory. The spokesperson of Beast Industries contested this, stating that her demotion was misrepresented.
The allegations have taken a further turn as Mavromatis contends that her employment was terminated after she returned from maternity leave in November 2025. She claims her position was eliminated unjustly, citing that she was told she was “too high calibre” for the role. Meanwhile, the company maintains that Mavromatis’s role was removed due to an organisational restructure that occurred during her medical leave, which affected several employees regardless of gender.
In a more extensive context, Beast Industries has previously faced accusations regarding workplace harassment. A report in 2024 indicated that several employees were terminated after an investigation uncovered instances of misconduct. Following this investigation, the company instituted new management and enhanced their policies to prevent future occurrences of similar issues.
As the situation unfolds, the stark contrast in narratives between Mavromatis and the representatives of Beast Industries depicts a challenging landscape concerning workplace culture and treatment within the fast-paced media industry. Each side asserts their position with claims of exploitation and misinformation marking the ongoing dispute. How these allegations will impact the company’s future remains to be seen, but they certainly place a spotlight on the need for clear and enforced workplace policies dedicated to protecting all employees.
