The couple, who reside in Boca Raton, turned to in vitro fertilisation (IVF) following their struggle to conceive naturally. Reis, who is a police officer, shared with a local news outlet, “When she showed me on the screen, we were both crying and laughing at the same time. I was like, ‘Oh boy!'”
The three boys were born prematurely, arriving at just 33 weeks and weighing slightly over three pounds each. Following their birth, they were admitted to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Baptist Health Boca Raton Regional Hospital, where they required care for about three weeks before being deemed well enough to return home.
According to hospital CEO Lincoln Mendez, the arrival of the triplets marks a significant event for the institution, as it is the first time in over a decade that the NICU has cared for a set of triplets. He expressed pride in his staff’s efforts, stating, “These triplets represent a remarkable milestone for Boca Raton Regional Hospital, part of Baptist Health South Florida, and it was a privilege for our team to care for them from the very beginning.”
