In a tragic incident that shook the community, the causes of death have been unveiled for three devoted Kansas City Chiefs fans who were discovered lifeless in the backyard of a friend’s residence back in January of 2024. The victims have been identified as David Harrington, 37, Clayton McGeeney, 36, and Ricky Johnson, 38. Platte County Prosecutor Eric Zahnd disclosed during a recent press conference that all three men had succumbed to “Fentanyl and cocaine combined toxicity.”

Subsequent to the forensic examination, authorities also made an announcement regarding the apprehension of two suspects linked to the case on March 5. The trio had been visiting their friend Jordan Willis’ rental property in Kansas City, Missouri, to watch a Kansas City Chiefs game against the Los Angeles Chargers on January 7, 2024. Shockingly, just two days post the gathering, the three friends were found deceased in the backyard. Despite the bewildering circumstances, law enforcement reiterated multiple times during the investigation that no foul play had been either observed or suspected.

Earlier toxicology findings had indicated the presence of cocaine and fentanyl in the victims’ systems, as reported by sources such as WDAF and TMZ in February 2024. However, the authorities continued to classify the case as an “ongoing death investigation.” Zahnd further disclosed that a search of the home subsequent to the incident had led to the discovery of two plastic bags containing “white powdery substances.” Upon testing by the police, one of the bags tested positive for cocaine. Consequently, Jordan Willis, alongside Ivory Carson, have been accused of supplying the drugs that ultimately resulted in the tragic demise of the three Chiefs fans.

Both Willis and Carson face charges including “distribution of a controlled substance and three counts of involuntary manslaughter,” Zahnd affirmed. As per the Associated Press, both individuals are currently being detained on a $100,000 cash bond with each charge carrying a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison.

An intriguing facet of the case involved a witness statement asserting that they had been in the company of the trio at Willis’ residence on the fateful night, where activities such as consuming alcohol, smoking marijuana, and using cocaine reportedly took place. Another witness alleged that prior to visiting Willis’ home, they had encountered “a large plate of cocaine allegedly supplied by Mr. Willis that everyone was using” at Harrington’s residence. In response to the charges brought against Jordan Willis, his attorney John Picerno expressed the client’s denial of any involvement in procuring or distributing the narcotics leading to his friends’ deaths. The legal team is eagerly anticipating presenting all evidence to a jury.
