Seabrook, N.H. Officer Facing Child Sexual Abuse Charges

A police officer from Seabrook, New Hampshire, has been accused of possessing and sharing explicit sexual content involving children. Officer John Giarrusso III, 48, residing in Haverhill, Massachusetts, was taken into custody on Monday. Allegations state that he uploaded graphic videos and engaged in explicit conversations about child sexual abuse with individuals as young as seven through the Kik app, as reported by WMUR referencing the Seabrook police’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. Moreover, he allegedly identified himself as “Officer Sexy” to young girls in the community.
The criminal complaint, as seen by WCVB, suggests that Giarrusso participated in discussions on Kik regarding arrangements to engage in sexual activities with wives, young daughters, and stepdaughters of other users. Shockingly, some of the videos he reportedly shared on the app depict young children being sexually assaulted by adults, as per WCVB. Charges against Giarrusso include felony counts of possessing child pornography, distributing material of a child in the nude, and disseminating obscene content to a minor, according to Boston.com.
Despite being involved in fundraising for treatment programs benefiting sexually abused children in his capacity as a police officer, the ICAC investigation revealed Giarrusso’s alleged illicit activities. Following the arrest, Giarrusso pleaded not guilty to all charges and has been put on administrative leave from his position in Seabrook. The Seabrook police department issued a statement asserting their adherence to the presumption of innocence until proven guilty but emphasized the gravity of the accusations against Giarrusso.
