Alice, who is now 20 years old, has dived into comedic pursuits while pursuing her studies. At the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, Fey spoke candidly with writer Damian Holbrook about her daughter’s new interests. “Alice is finding her way at the college level,” Fey acknowledged, while also expressing a sense of uncertainty about where this path may lead. “We had to come up such a different path — who knows what’s next for her?”

During the conversation, Fey addressed the prevalent notion of “nepo babies,” a term often affixed to children of celebrities who are perceived to leverage their family connections for career opportunities. While she mentioned that the term appears to be applied to others more than her own children, she chuckled at how the audience might react. “The viewer is still like, ‘Nepo baby, yuck.’ But not about my kids,” she quipped.

During a playdate, one of Penelope’s friends remarked on her mother’s fame, to which Penelope confidently responded, “She’s not famous. Fey recalled the decision to allow Penelope to audition, remarking, “If we don’t let her audition for this, she’s going to kill us.”
