A man has been reported missing in Colorado after he embarked on a solo hunting excursion and failed to return for a scheduled doctor’s appointment. Kaden Sites, a 27-year-old from Salida, was last seen on April 15 when he set off for Shavano Mountain in Chaffee County shortly after 1:30 p.m. His absence was noted when he did not arrive for a 3:45 p.m. appointment.

Search efforts were prompted when family members discovered Sites’ vehicle situated near the Blanks Cabin Trailhead, with his mobile phone found inside. Unfortunately, the phone’s battery was completely drained, offering little help to authorities trying to establish his whereabouts.
The Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) reported that local search and rescue teams were quickly deployed to locate Sites following the notification of his disappearance. Sheriff Andy Rohrich stated that a broad range of resources have been utilised, including dog teams, drones, helicopters, and fixed-wing aircraft, alongside over 60 ground searches conducted by multiple agencies.
Despite the efforts, the CCSO has urged the public to refrain from entering the search area. Sheriff Rohrich emphasised the need for this request, explaining that the presence of unauthorised individuals in the vicinity could complicate the ongoing operation and divert crucial resources away from the search for Sites. “We are utilising a lot of aircraft for searching, and we don’t want to be unintentionally diverted to an unknown searcher in the area,” he stated.
Kaden Sites is described as 6 feet 2 inches tall, weighing approximately 160 pounds, with light brown hair, accompanied by a goatee and moustache. At the time of his disappearance, he was reportedly wearing a green hoodie, ripped khaki trousers, and hiking boots. Authorities noted that Sites should have been in possession of a shotgun and also carried a binocular pack but had no other equipment with him.
