Man Receives 80-Year Sentence for Sexual Assault on Teen, Citing Small Genitals as Defence

A man from Colorado, Brandon Robert Berg, 44, has been sentenced to 80 years in prison for sexually assaulting a teenage girl. During the trial, Berg attempted to argue that he could not have committed the crime due to the size of his genitalia. The victim, his 19-year-old stepdaughter, reported to police in 2020 that Berg had assaulted her multiple times since she was 15, as confirmed by the Arapahoe County District Attorney’s Office.

When questioned by the police regarding the allegations, Berg claimed that he was physically unable to engage in sexual intercourse because of his belly fat and the small size of his genitalia. He also stated that an alternate sexual orientation made him uninterested in the alleged conduct. Despite these claims, Berg maintained his stance during his trial.

In addition to the sexual abuse, the victim accused Berg of physical abuse. She bore a 4-inch scar on her back from being scratched with a fork by Berg. Shockingly, she also alleged that he branded her arm with a knife heated on a stovetop, carving the initials “RB” for Brandon and Rebecca, his wife and the victim’s mother. The victim’s bravery in speaking up and providing crucial evidence was commended by Chief Deputy District Attorney Jacob Kremin.

Rebecca Berg, the wife, was also found guilty of aggravated incest and received a sentence of 4 years to life, followed by 20 years of Sex Offender Intensive Supervision. The victim disclosed that her mother sometimes participated in the abuse alongside Brandon Berg. Despite various excuses put forth by the couple, their fate was sealed by DNA evidence collected and preserved by the victim, leading to their convictions.
