In Tijuana, Mexico, a father has been left with severe injuries after a dramatic incident where he attempted to rescue his daughter’s cat. The event took place on the night of Wednesday, April 1, at approximately 11:00 p.m., when Alberto Romero became entangled in live electrical wires while trying to reach the pet that had been missing for two days.

According to reports from NBC 7 San Diego, the family’s ordeal began when the young girl spotted her beloved cat on a third-floor balcony. In her eagerness to see the animal returned home, she urged her father to intervene. “When we saw the cat, she just wanted to run and get it,” shared Guadalupe Tosas, Alberto’s wife, emphasising her daughter’s affection for the family pet.

Alberto, who works as a medical technician in Temecula, California, did not have any recollection of the incident once it unfolded. His wife expressed her frustration, saying, “He wants to remember, but he couldn’t.” Concerns for the father’s safety transformed into a desperate situation as he became trapped in the wires, raising alarm within the household.

Family members were gathered at Kioni Romero’s residence when the accident occurred. Kioni recalled being hesitant about the rescue attempt, stating that he advised against it, suggesting the cat would return home on its own once hungry. However, the little girl’s determination was overpowering and ultimately led to a frantic effort to retrieve the cat.

Once Alberto became caught in the live wires, Guadalupe rushed to his aid in what she described as a horrifying moment. She recounted her struggle, saying, “I was terrified, and I have to do what I know how to do.” Determined to save her husband, she sprang into action to free him from the dangerous entanglement.

After successfully liberating Alberto, Guadalupe immediately administered CPR in an attempt to revive him. In a moment of desperation, she shouted for him to “stay with me,” and to her relief, he began to breathe again. However, the severity of the situation quickly became clear; Alberto sustained third-degree burns across his chest, arm, face, and side.

Currently, Alberto is recovering at home, but his journey to healing is fraught with challenges. Guadalupe revealed that he experiences ongoing pain in his injuries, with certain areas still exposed and healing slowly. The prospect of losing his hand looms over the family, creating further anxiety during this difficult period.

In light of their financial struggles, Kioni has initiated a GoFundMe campaign to help support Alberto’s recovery. The fundraiser outlines the additional hardships the family is facing, as Alberto not only battles serious burns but has also lost his job while in the hospital, compounding the stress of medical bills and recovery expenses. “Now, he is out of work and struggling to afford the medication and care he needs to heal,” Kioni explained on the crowdfunding page.

Guadalupe, however, expressed the difficulty of managing the situation daily. “I am just trying to be day by day. But it’s not easy.
