Cassie Donegan, crowned Miss America 2026, continues to embrace her busy lifestyle as she completes nearly a year in her role. This accomplished 28-year-old, who previously held the title of Miss New York, became the 98th woman to win the esteemed pageant when she was honoured on 7 September 2025, at the Walt Disney Theater in Orlando, Florida. Having transitioned from her successful career in theatre, where she showcased her talents as both an actress and a singer, Donegan’s schedule has become somewhat relentless. Despite this hectic pace, she expressed to PEOPLE magazine that for the moment, the excitement of her title keeps her energised. “I’m still riding the high,” she explained, indicating her enthusiasm about fulfilling her duties as Miss America.
The journey of her reign has not been a solitary one, as Donegan has been on the move almost daily, often attending multiple events a day. “A typical day might involve a brunch in the morning followed by a gala in the evening,” she noted, highlighting the variety of her engagements. This comes with its challenges, as she admits the constant travelling can take its toll. “A lot of my days are filled with travel – planes, trains, automobiles – you name it. There’s a lot of airport time,” she shared.

The breadth of events she participates in enriches her experience, and Donegan revels in the opportunity to learn in each setting. “I’ve always said if I could be a student forever, I would,” she remarked, demonstrating her commitment to personal development and growth. Her background in the entertainment industry has seemingly equipped her well for her demanding schedule, making her adept at living out of a suitcase and navigating life on the go.

However, it is not without its challenges. Donegan described some days as exhausting, with particularly long hours leaving her feeling mentally drained. “There have been 10-hour days where I’ve returned home and thought, ‘What are words? I don’t know how to be human right now,’” she joked. Despite the fatigue, she acknowledges the joy of her experiences, stating that while her mind might be “mush”, her heart feels full.
To support her during this intense period, Donegan is fortunate to have a solid support system in place. She credits her close friends and family for helping her manage life while she is away. “I have three dogs, and I am so grateful for friends who refuse to let me pay them to look after them,” she explained. One friend regularly checks in and even offers to assist with chores during her brief homecomings.
As Donegan looks ahead to the upcoming September when she will crown her successor, she admits the likely need for a substantial rest. “By that time, I’ll probably be ready to sleep for 72 hours straight,” she confessed, reminiscing about the sheer volume of her commitments. Yet for now, she remains enthusiastic about her role and is committed to making the most of her remaining months.
Despite the whirlwind that has come to characterise her reign, Donegan’s dedication to making a positive impact through her title remains a priority. With a mindset focused on her love for learning and her excitement for what lies ahead, she stands poised to continue her journey as Miss America with the same passion that led her to the crown.
