**Shooting Incident in Virginia Beach Leaves Eight Injured**

A shooting in Virginia Beach on Saturday night has resulted in eight individuals sustaining injuries, as two groups engaged in an exchange of gunfire. The incident, which took place on Atlantic Avenue, has prompted a swift police response and an ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding the altercation.
Police received reports of gunfire in the 1400 block of Atlantic Avenue at approximately 9:50 PM local time. Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered eight victims who had been shot. The group of eight included a 24-year-old woman, two men aged 18, a 20-year-old man, as well as two 17-year-olds — one male and one female, alongside another 20-year-old female. Fortunately, all those injured were promptly transported to nearby hospitals, and authorities indicated that their injuries varied in severity from non-life-threatening to serious, but all victims were expected to survive.

Among the individuals involved, police have arrested 18-year-old Jamaya Williams from Henrico County, who was also one of the shooting victims. Authorities reported that Williams was in illegal possession of two firearms at the time of the incident. She now faces multiple charges, including seven counts of aggravated assault, as well as seven counts each of using a firearm in the commission of a felony and reckless handling of a firearm leading to injury. Additionally, she has been charged with three violations of a protective order.
While Williams has been taken into custody, law enforcement is actively searching for two other suspects connected to the shooting: an unidentified man and 18-year-old Isaiah Charity from Richmond, Virginia. Charity has outstanding warrants for several serious charges, including eight counts of aggravated malicious wounding, use of a firearm in a felony, and reckless handling of a firearm with the intent to cause injury.
This violent incident follows closely on the heels of another shooting that occurred just weeks earlier, wherein six bystanders were injured on Atlantic Avenue. In response to that shooting on March 7, city officials implemented a curfew on weekends aimed at limiting the presence of unaccompanied minors at the Oceanfront area between 7 PM and 5 AM until the end of April. This curfew reflects ongoing concerns regarding public safety in the popular tourist area.
Deputy Chief William Zelms addressed the media, assuring the community that there is no ongoing threat stemming from Saturday’s events. “We understand that incidents like this can cause concern within the community,” he stated. “That’s why we take these situations very seriously and will do everything in our power to ensure public safety.”
