The Ortiz family will soon expand to include the couple’s daughter, Isabella, aged nine, and Oscar’s two sons—Jonathan, 11, and Joel, 18—who he welcomed from a previous relationship. The moment of discovery for Cat, 32, came in March when she realised she had missed her menstrual cycle at the end of February. Initially, she attributed the delay to the stress of moving, but after discussing it with her cousin—someone she typically shares a sync with—she decided to take a pregnancy test. “Oscar and I ran to Walgreens to grab a pregnancy test,” she recounted, adding that she was surprised to find a positive result while she waited in the shower for the results.
This news was particularly astonishing for Cat as she had been informed previously by doctors that conceiving might be challenging due to her polycystic ovary syndrome and a prior IUD complication which created scar tissue. “Doctors told me my chances of having more children were very unlikely,” she explained. As a result, the revelation sparked a range of emotions for the couple, including joy and apprehension, especially considering that their daughter, Isabella, has Cornelia de Lange Syndrome, a rare genetic condition that affects growth and development.
Reflecting on their initial reactions, Cat noted, “At first, we were both overwhelmed and honestly scared.” Following a candid conversation between them, however, they found a sense of peace, believing that their family is part of a divine plan.
The current pregnancy differs significantly from her previous experience. Cat has described suffering from continuous nausea and extreme fatigue. “Thank God we work from home,” she mentioned, “because I do not think I would be able to function without naps during the day.” Food has presented another challenge for her, stating, “I have almost no desire to cook, and when I do, I get so turned off that I cannot even eat what I made.”
As for the gender of the baby, the Ortiz family has opted not to find out just yet but plan to hold a special reveal event. Cat is excited to see what her brother and cousin come up with, stating, “We are not sure exactly how it will happen yet, but we know it will be something special.”
