Teen Allegedly Sought Out Sex Offender to Dismember, Then Uttered These Chilling Words to Girlfriend

A 19-year-old man from Florida, Lucas Sander Jones, has been arrested and charged with the murder and dismemberment of a 28-year-old man named Colie Lee Daniel. According to authorities, the gruesome crime was motivated by Daniel’s status as a registered sex offender.

Details surrounding the case emerged on March 20 when Jones’ girlfriend visited his home in Indialantic, a coastal area in northern Florida. Upon her arrival, she allegedly witnessed a disturbing scene: bloody footprints leading through the hallway, red stains on Jones’ jeans, and black spray paint marking the walls. An amended affidavit filed by the police on April 1 disclosed that Jones allegedly confessed to his girlfriend that he had killed and then dismembered a man.

The affidavit states that Jones claimed he had targeted Daniel due to his criminal background. Daniel, who had a prior conviction in 2018 for lewd and lascivious battery involving a minor, was listed on the Florida Department of Law Enforcement’s registry for sexual offenders. Jones’ girlfriend noted that he had printed out a list of sex offenders in the vicinity before the incident, raising concerns about his intentions.

Following Daniel’s disappearance, his parents grew worried and used “Find My iPhone” technology to locate their son. This led them to Jones’ address. Upon arrival, they asked Jones to let them see their son, but he declined and only made a phone call to police when they refused to leave. Officers who responded to the call on March 21 were similarly rebuffed when they attempted to enter Jones’ residence, finding no evidence of Daniel.

In a turn of events, it is alleged that after the police left, Jones and his girlfriend transported two plastic tote bags and a suitcase to a remote area known as “the Compound” in Palm Bay. On March 28, local authorities were alerted to the area after passersby noticed a suitcase surrounded by vultures, leading to the discovery of human remains and an Amazon package addressed to Jones.

Initially charged with tampering with evidence and improper disposal of a dead body, Jones faced further charges when the remains were officially identified as those of Colie Lee Daniel. Although he was released on bond shortly after his first arrest, Jones was rearrested on April 1 and charged with first-degree murder after his girlfriend provided additional testimony to police.

In her subsequent statements, Jones’ girlfriend recounted that upon returning to the house on March 20, Jones had instructed her not to disclose anything to investigators. She initially claimed to have seen Daniel at Jones’ residence but later retracted that account. In a revised narrative given to detectives, she stated that Daniel had already been killed and dismembered by the time she returned, providing intricate details about the crime and describing how Jones had allegedly saved some of Daniel’s blood for further examination.

Lucas Sander Jones is currently being held without bond at the Brevard County Jail, where he awaits his next court appearance. No comment has yet been made by his attorney regarding the ongoing legal proceedings.
