A delivery driver from Domino’s has captured the hearts of many after his exceptional kindness went viral, leading to a crowdfunding initiative aimed at supporting him as he prepares for retirement. Dan, a 70-year-old driver, became the focus of attention after going the extra mile for a customer, Brian Wilson, in Idaho.

The incident began when Dan arrived at the Domino’s store to collect Wilson’s pizza order, only to discover that the restaurant had run out of Diet Coke. Wilson received a notification about the missing item just after Dan had left the store. Rather than leaving the beverage out of the order, Dan took it upon himself to stop at a nearby shop to purchase the soft drink for his customer.

Footage recorded by a Ring doorbell at Wilson’s home captured the heartwarming exchange. In the clip, Dan explained his actions, saying, “I stopped at the store though.” Surprised by Dan’s gesture, Wilson responded, “Aw, you did not have to do that,” to which Dan reassured him, “It’s okay.” Wilson, feeling that Dan deserved more than the original tip he had given, expressed a desire to add to it, although Dan humbly declined, insisting that the tip he had already received was sufficient.
Determined to show his appreciation for Dan’s extraordinary kindness, Wilson decided to set up a GoFundMe campaign. The appeal quickly gained traction, especially after Wilson shared a TikTok video showcasing Dan’s good deed. As of early April, the fundraiser had raised over $32,000, approaching its goal of $35,000.
“Honestly, we were blown away. That level of care and kindness is rare these days,” Wilson wrote on the fundraiser page. He noted that Dan had dedicated 14 years of his life working at Domino’s as a second job and was set to retire by the end of April. “Let’s help him step into retirement feeling appreciated, supported, and celebrated,” Wilson encouraged potential donors.
Dan later shared his own thoughts about the experience during an interview with the Idaho Statesman. Reflecting on the brief stop he made for the soda, Dan recalled, “When I got there, they were just flabbergasted.” He recounted a local remark, “They don’t make people like you anymore,” which he found quite amusing. Despite his newfound fame, he remained modest, stating, “All I did was stop and get a soda,” and expressed disbelief at the viral attention his actions received.
Following the incident, Dan returned to work the next day to find that his colleagues had been made aware of his newly acquired fame. To further exemplify their gratitude, Wilson and his family accompanied a note to their order with a generous additional tip of $50, on top of the earlier $6. This act of kindness left Dan astounded. “I’ve always tried to work hard and go the extra mile on stuff,” he expressed.
As the countdown to retirement continues, Wilson has provided updates on the GoFundMe page, confirming Dan’s official retirement date as April 30. This heartwarming story illustrates how one small act of kindness can ripple through a community, inspiring others to contribute and support those who go above and beyond in their daily lives. The campaign highlights the profound impact that kindness still holds, prompting individuals to give back to those who show exceptional service and dedication.
