Skeletal Remains Found by Father and Son on Hike Identified as Man Who Vanished on Walk to Friend’s House in 2022

Human remains recently uncovered in a secluded area of Kentucky have been identified as belonging to a man who had been missing since 2022. The Rowan County Coroner’s Office confirmed that the remains found in April 2025 are those of Cameron Lee Boling, a resident who vanished during a walk nearly three years prior.

The discovery was made by a father and son on 19 April 2025 while hiking in the remote Trent Ridge area of Rowan County. Initial searches for additional remains yielded no further results. However, as more search teams joined local and state authorities, the investigation took a significant turn. The efforts included the deployment of five cadaver dogs from Louisville, which assisted in locating further skeletal remains and pieces of clothing later in the search.

Cameron Lee Boling was 37 years old when he was last seen in Morehead, Kentucky. At the time of his disappearance, Boling was described as wearing black shorts and Nike shoes, with no shirt. Distinctive tattoos, one reading “Jacob” on his left shoulder and the other “Jamie” on his right shoulder, were also noted as identifying features.
