Couple Serena Pitt and Joe Amabile, who gained fame from the reality show *Bachelor in Paradise*, recently discussed their thoughts on prenuptial agreements during an episode of their podcast, *Not Married to This*. The pair, who became engaged during the show’s seventh season, married first in October 2022 and then celebrated a second wedding in September 2023.

During a candid conversation on the March 26 episode, Amabile expressed his reservations regarding prenups, likening them to an exit strategy that could undermine the foundation of a marriage. He stated, “A prenup makes it seem like you’re going into this with the thought that it might end, which shouldn’t be the mindset when entering a life-long commitment.”

Pitt, 28, shared her agreement, suggesting that previous generations viewed prenups with suspicion. “Our parents often thought that signing a prenup implied a lack of faith in the durability of the marriage,” she articulated. Acknowledging the contemporary reality where nearly half of all marriages could end in divorce, she emphasised that while no one enters a marriage anticipating its dissolution, the statistics remain a sobering aspect of modern relationships.

The couple’s discussion highlighted that Amabile, now 39, and Pitt have already navigated significant legal complexities surrounding their relationship due to Pitt being a Canadian citizen. “With all the visa applications and paperwork we had to do, adding a prenup seemed excessive,” he explained.
However, Pitt admitted she felt conflicted about the decision to forgo a prenup. “I truly don’t expect us to get divorced,” she clarified. “You’re my best friend, and I hope we stay together forever. But the reality is that we cannot predict what may happen in the future, even decades down the line.” Her acknowledgment of uncertainty added a layer of realism to their hopeful outlook.
Ultimately, Pitt decided against a prenup after deep contemplation and a significant conversation with her father. She articulated her belief in the strength of their relationship while also acknowledging that the possibility of divorce exists, albeit unwanted.
The couple celebrated their initial marriage in a low-key courthouse ceremony in New York City, followed by a grander celebration at The Cedar Room in Charleston, South Carolina, with 134 guests attending in September 2023. Reflecting on their second wedding, Amabile described the occasion as “the happiest moment of our lives,” with Pitt calling it “a magical day.”
As they approach their first anniversary, Pitt conveyed that their relationship has continued to blossom beyond the initial excitement of marriage. “I assumed that some of the romance might fade after the honeymoon phase, but Joe still manages to surprise me with thoughtful gestures,” she shared.
Amabile chimed in with a humorous observation about their daily life together, noting, “She steals the comforter from me every single night.” This light-hearted banter illustrates the couple’s affection for each other, even amid daily challenges.
As the newlyweds move further into their shared life, their experience highlights the complexities that come with modern relationships and the dialogue surrounding varied approaches to commitment. Their transparent discussions about such matters on their podcast continue to offer insights into their partnership, proving that even reality television stars face relatable relationship dilemmas.
