Cat Who Went Missing for 5 Years Reunites with Owners After a Stranger Found the Feline in Her Basement

In a heartwarming turn of events, a Maryland family has been reunited with their treasured cat, Artemis, nearly five years after she went missing. Melissa Garci and her daughter, Brooke Garci, from Harford County, faced the emotional turmoil of losing their beloved pet, who was an indoor/outdoor cat that vanished without a trace in September 2021.

Recalling the days following Artemis’ disappearance, Melissa shared her desperate search efforts. “I posted fliers around the neighbourhood, rolled them up, and distributed them to people’s doors,” she explained. A local woman had discovered a cat hiding in her unfinished basement and, wanting to help, brought the feline to the shelter. Erin Long, the marketing and development manager at the humane society, recalled the moment the shelter contacted the Garcis. “We reached out, and when we told the woman on the other end, she was incredulous.
