A recent heart-stopping adventure 500 feet above a canyon in Moab, Utah, has garnered widespread attention online after a mother shared the experience on TikTok. Mariah Sizemore, accompanied by her husband, Collin, and their eight-year-old daughter, Lakelin, embarked on a journey that would push them all to confront their fears.

The Sizemore family, hailing from the Atlanta area, has made it a tradition to seek out unique and exhilarating experiences together. Having enjoyed previous adventures like whitewater rafting in Jackson Hole and hot air ballooning in St. George, the family decided that their next outing in Moab should be equally thrilling. “We wanted to try something new,” Mariah explained in an exclusive interview. “Visiting Moab was a great opportunity for us to challenge ourselves.”

The challenge came in the form of a swing that hangs perilously over a canyon, providing a dizzying drop of 500 feet. Despite her adventurous spirit, Mariah confessed to feeling apprehensive about the jump. “I was really nervous, especially while Collin and Lakelin seemed completely unfazed by it all,” she recalled. Determined not to be outdone by her husband, she mustered the courage to be the first to take the leap. “I figured if I didn’t jump first, I might back out from nerves.”
After months of anticipation, the moment finally arrived, and Mariah jumped from the platform. “I’m so glad I did it. The rush was like nothing I’ve ever felt,” she said with excitement. However, the real test of her composure came when it was time for Lakelin to take her turn.
Upon her return to the top, Mariah noticed Lakelin was getting strapped in for her jump. “At that moment, I was more anxious than when I was about to jump myself,” she admitted. To ease her concerns, Mariah assured her daughter that it was completely okay if she decided against it. However, Lakelin was determined to try. “With a big smile, she said, ‘Heck no, I’m going for it!’” Mariah said proudly.
When Lakelin completed her jump, she showcased a level of bravery that stunned her mother. “She didn’t hesitate; she just went for it!” Mariah beamed. Once back safely on solid ground, Mariah asked her daughter if she had felt scared during the experience. Lakelin brightly responded, “No, Mum, it was fun! I’d do it again!”
Initially, the family captured the thrilling moment just for their friends and family. However, after watching the footage a few times, they decided to post it on TikTok, not anticipating the overwhelming response it would receive. The video has since been viewed over two million times, attracting a flurry of comments from delighted viewers.
“We never imagined the video would gain such popularity,” said Mariah, taken aback by the engagement. Comments varied widely, with some users joking about their own fears while others expressed amazement at Lakelin’s courage. “There’s absolutely no way I would ever let my child do that,” one user commented.
Reflecting on the experience, Mariah hopes the viral moment serves as a reminder for others to embrace adventure and challenge themselves. “I want everyone to see it as a fun family moment,” she explained. More importantly, she wishes to inspire others to venture beyond their comfort zones, saying, “Life is too short, so embrace opportunities, be brave, and create lasting memories with your family.”
For the Sizemores, this thrilling escapade was about more than just a jump; it was a shared experience that brought them closer together and reinforced their commitment to enjoying life to the fullest. Mariah’s message to families everywhere is clear: “Get out there and do something fun! Teach your kids to be strong and brave, and most of all, to have fun.”
