The family of an 18-year-old high school senior, Travis Teixeira, is grieving the loss of their son following a tragic car accident in Leominster, Massachusetts. The young man, who was set to graduate this May, died as a result of injuries sustained when the vehicle he was travelling in fell from an overpass on the evening of March 20.

According to Massachusetts State Police, Teixeira was the only lethal casualty in the incident, which happened shortly before 9 p.m. local time. Two other occupants in the vehicle survived but incurred injuries. Following the crash, Travis was taken to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries the following morning.

His mother, April Teixeira, expressed her devastating loss in a heartfelt Facebook post. “This morning at 5:12am my son Trav took his last breath. There are no words to explain how hurt and crushed we are as a family,” she wrote. She described Travis as the ‘rock’ of the family, someone who had a profound impact on their lives. “I don’t know how I will live without you; life will never be the same,” she lamented.
Travis leaves behind five siblings, including a three-year-old sister with whom he shared a close bond. His brother, James Teixeira, 19, spoke of their relationship, stating, “He was the perfect brother. I couldn’t have asked for more from him.” He also mentioned the heartbreaking reality that their younger sister is yet to comprehend the loss of her “favourite person.”
In response to the family’s distress, a GoFundMe page was established to assist with funeral expenses and has quickly gained substantial support, raising over £66,000 (equivalent to over $83,000) in just a week. Family members have expressed their gratitude for the community’s generosity during this difficult time. Sean Quirk, April’s brother, remarked on the crowdfunding site about Travis’s character and aspirations, describing him as “a great kid with a huge heart,” and noting his impressive academic accomplishments, as he had been accepted into every college he applied to.
Aside from being a dedicated student at Oakmont Regional High School, Travis was also a hardworking individual who held down two jobs. He worked at an extended day programme, caring for and mentoring young children, in addition to a role at a well-known local restaurant, Blueprint New American Bar & Grill. The restaurant temporarily closed its doors following the accident, stating, “Our employees are like family to us at Blueprint. Thank you for your understanding. God bless and rest in peace.”
As the local community begins to come to terms with this loss, Travis’s funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, March 28, at the Wright-Roy Funeral Home in Leominster, to be followed by a celebration of life at the Colonial Hotel in Gardner. Family members have indicated that the manner of the accident remains under investigation, as authorities piece together the details surrounding the fatal incident.
This harrowing event has not only impacted the Teixeira family but has also sent ripples throughout the local community, prompting an outpouring of condolences and support from friends, neighbours, and strangers alike. The memory of Travis, described as an athlete filled with passion and determination, lives on in the hearts of those who knew him or were touched by his story.
