A Californian woman has been convicted of involuntary manslaughter following the tragic death of an OnlyFans model, who allegedly died as a result of an illegal silicone injection. Christina Ashten Gourkani, 34, known for her striking resemblance to Kim Kardashian, passed away after the procedure was administered in a hotel near San Francisco International Airport in April 2023.

The jury found 53-year-old Vivian Alexandra Gomez guilty of felony involuntary manslaughter and practising medicine without a licence. The verdict was reached by a San Mateo County jury, according to a post shared by the District Attorney’s Office on X, formerly known as Twitter, on 24 March.
Prosecutors indicated that Gomez, a resident of Florida, had travelled to California to perform the cosmetic procedure. The court heard that Gourkani suffered severe health complications shortly after the injection, which led to her untimely demise. According to the authorities, her cause of death was identified as respiratory failure, resulting from a subsequent infection that triggered a pulmonary embolism—a potentially fatal condition.
Steve Wagstaffe, the San Mateo County District Attorney, elaborated on the medical circumstances surrounding Gourkani’s death, shedding light on the presence of silicone in her bloodstream. Prosecutors highlighted the dangers associated with such unregulated cosmetic procedures, which can be detrimental to one’s health.
After the guilty verdict was announced, Gomez, who had been out on bail but under restrictions, was taken into custody by the authorities. The court has scheduled her sentencing for 5 May, where she could face significant penalties for her actions.
