Koala Dies After Allegedly Being Tied to a Vehicle and Dragged Down the Street in ‘Brazen Attack’

A shocking animal cruelty incident in Koroit, Victoria, has left a koala with fatal injuries after it was allegedly tied to the back of a vehicle and dragged through the streets. Local wildlife rescue organisation Mosswood Wildlife responded to the harrowing scene, but unfortunately, the koala could not be saved. Mosswood Wildlife condemned the act as “a brazen attack” and expressed its horror at the suffering inflicted upon the animal.

In the wake of these events, Mosswood Wildlife called for justice on social media, stating, “Our biggest thing at this point is now that the authorities have identified who did this vile act, is to make sure he faces the full force of the law.” Edwards has emphasised that it is vital for the community to understand the severity of such deliberate acts against native wildlife, insisting that they deserve serious consideration and consequences.

Edwards lamented the cruelty displayed in the incident, characterising it as a conscious choice rather than a spur-of-the-moment act. “It wasn’t an accident. It was a choice, and a brazen one, at five o’clock in the evening down a residential street,” she remarked. Her sentiments reflect a growing concern among animal welfare advocates about the level of violence directed at wildlife, with many seeing this specific case as particularly egregious.
