The beloved beauty podcast, Fat Mascara, is ringing in a decade of success with an exciting relaunch that includes a partnership with PEOPLE Inc. This milestone is marked by a fresh array of formats and collaborations with notable platforms such as InStyle, Entertainment Weekly, and Byrdie, further emphasising the podcast’s commitment to evolving within the beauty industry.

Scheduled to debut its new season on 25 March, the first episode of this revitalised series boasts an impressive line-up, featuring industry heavyweights Bobbi Brown and Daniel Martin. The introduction of a new franchise titled “Artists’ Salon” aims to foster creative conversations among makeup artists, providing a roundtable that will delve into the latest trends and challenges faced by professionals in the field.
Jess Matlin, the host of Fat Mascara, expressed her enthusiasm about returning to the beauty community. “Fat Mascara has been such a deeply personal part of my life for the past decade,” she shared. “Kicking off with Daniel Martin and Bobbi Brown, two true pioneers and longtime members of the Fat Mascara family, felt like the perfect way to start.” Matlin further elaborated on her hopes for the upcoming season, hinting at more enriching discussions regarding the current state and future of beauty.
The podcast’s expansion does not stop with the Artists’ Salon. This season will also introduce several new segments that promise to engage listeners on multiple levels. “Ask an Expert” will allow listeners to submit questions that are then answered by esteemed beauty professionals and medical experts. Meanwhile, “Beauty Bonds” will pair renowned beauty personalities with celebrity clients for authentic dialogues, fostering a more personal connection to the industry.
Additionally, the “Newsroom” segment will feature fast-paced discussions on trending beauty stories, offering insider perspectives to keep listeners updated with the latest developments. A redesigned “Business Desk” will provide insights through interviews with beauty executives and trend forecasters, highlighting the operational side of the industry.
Milani Cosmetics is set to join as the official launch partner for the new season, demonstrating a significant collaboration that aligns with the podcast’s enhanced offerings.
Matlin took to Instagram to announce the podcast’s relaunch, exclaiming, “BIG BIG BIG! @fatmascara heads into its 10th year with an epic new partnership with @peopleinc!” Excitement fills her message as she encourages listeners to explore what’s next for Fat Mascara, hinting at past guests while promising new talents and discussions that span beauty and culture.
Looking ahead, Fat Mascara is poised to continue delivering the rich, informative content that its audience has come to expect. “People can expect more of what Fat Mascara listeners love: access to established beauty experts and insiders,” Matlin disclosed. “But also, they’ll get to meet beauty experts and creators that they might not know much about, tapping into that sense of discovery that has defined Fat Mascara.”
While the future looks bright for the podcast, Matlin has hinted at a potential pause in 2025 after a decade and over 580 episodes of content. This reflects her desire to assess the next steps for Fat Mascara as her founding co-host, Jennifer G. Sullivan, transitions to a full-time editorial role at The New York Times’ Wirecutter.
Fat Mascara is set to continue premiering new episodes every Wednesday on popular platforms such as Apple Podcasts and Spotify. With its strong legacy and forward-looking vision, the show is ready to embark on another exciting chapter in the world of beauty.
