In a poignant reflection on loss, Kirsten Kull, co-host of the Bardown Beauties Podcast, shared her heartache following the tragic death of her friend and colleague, Jessi Pierce. Kull’s emotional tribute comes two days after Pierce, along with her three young children, perished in a devastating house fire on March 21.

Kull revealed that she received a notification on her phone reminding her of their usual podcast recording session, a stark and painful reminder of the special moments she had shared with Pierce. In a post on social media platform X, she expressed her anguish over the relentless march of time, stating, “It’s cruel that the world doesn’t stop when terrible things happen even when we desperately beg for it to.”

Reflecting on their weekly routine, Kull admitted the struggle of confronting the void left by Pierce’s absence. “Every Monday, Jessi and I would sit down to record,” she wrote. “This morning my phone buzzed with a notification that the record is coming up, except today it’s not.”
The grief of losing her co-host and friend has weighed heavily on Kull. She described the difficulty of logging onto her computer to sit at her microphone in the space where they recorded together, a bittersweet reminder of their bond. Kull remarked, “Logging onto my computer, sitting at my desk with my microphone where we recorded was another hard thing I haven’t yet done but have to continue to do.”
As she grapples with her emotions, Kull reached out to others who are enduring similar pain. She noted that many people, like herself, are experiencing profound loss and sorrow. “My heart hurts for everyone today just doing their best to make it through the day,” she said.
Kull’s heartfelt words also paid tribute to Pierce’s character as a devoted mother. During an interview with SKOR North, she fondly remembered how Pierce “made every moment special” for her children, who ranged in age from four to eight years old. Kull emphasised that the children “knew that they were loved,” highlighting the deep familial bonds that were tragically cut short.
The fire that claimed the lives of Pierce and her children occurred in their Minnesota home. Firefighters were alerted to the blaze early in the morning, responding to smoke seen rising from the rooftop of the family residence. Tragically, when help arrived, the scene was devastating, with Pierce, her sons Hudson and Cayden, and her daughter Avery all confirmed dead.
Pierce’s husband, Mike Hinrichs, was reportedly away on a work trip at the time of the fire, leaving him unable to be there during the tragedy that unfolded. The White Bear Lake Fire Department has indicated that arson has been ruled out as a cause, but investigations are still ongoing to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the fire.
As the local community and fans of the podcast mourn their loss, Kull’s decision to keep the recording notifications remains a personal tribute to her friend. She stated, “But for as long as I can, I’ll keep my Monday podcast record notifications on because it reminds me of how much special time I was able to share with Jessi weekly.”
Kull’s emotional posts have resonated widely, reminding many of the fragility of life and the impacts of grief when faced with sudden tragedy. The community continues to remember Pierce and her children, celebrating their lives even amidst the overwhelming sorrow of their loss.
As investigations progress, thoughts remain with the family and friends affected by this heartbreaking incident, as they seek solace in memories and support during such a harrowing time.
