Sarah Strong, a forward for the University of Connecticut (UConn) Huskies, is carving out her own name in collegiate basketball, but her talents undeniably stem from her impressive lineage. Born on 3 February 2006 in Spain to two notable basketball figures, Allison Feaster and Danny Strong, Sarah has been immersed in a world where hard work and sport excellence are not just encouraged but expected.

From a young age, Sarah found inspiration in her parents’ athletic careers. Her mother, Allison Feaster, is a former WNBA player known for her distinguished time with the Harvard Crimson, where she remains the all-time leader in points, rebounds, and steals. After being drafted fifth overall in the 1998 WNBA Draft, Allison played for teams such as the Los Angeles Sparks and the Charlotte Sting. Allison Feaster is also making waves off the court. Following her illustrious playing career which included stints in several European leagues, Allison now serves as the Vice President of Team Operations and Organisational Growth for the Boston Celtics. In her role, she prioritises helping athletes complete their education and prepare for life post-basketball—a cause she is passionate about given her own athletic background.

Danny Strong, Sarah’s father, also boasts a commendable basketball history, having played at North Carolina State University before embarking on a fifteen-year professional basketball career across Europe. Post-retirement, Danny established the Strong Center, a charity focused on community development through sports. This organisation aims to empower underprivileged families, offering support in various areas such as food security and mentorship for students facing challenges.

Although Sarah’s parents have since divorced, they remain integral to her basketball journey, both as mentor and fan. In interviews, Allison has expressed immense pride in her daughter’s accomplishments, particularly noting Sarah’s leadership on defence with leading statistics in steals and blocks.
