A tragic incident on March 15 in Alabama has led to the untimely deaths of a father and his three-year-old son. Authorities have since identified the victims as 33-year-old Orlin Dariel-Rodriguez and his son, Jared Ramos, both residents of Bessemer. According to reports from the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office, the father and son were involved in an unfortunate accident while on Eastern Valley Road in the late evening. Emergency services were called to the scene; however, both Orlin and Jared were pronounced dead shortly after their arrival.

Family member Heidy Rodriguez Cabrera shared her thoughts in an interview, reflecting on the heroism displayed by Orlin. “He will be a hero for his son,” she stated, describing how the father did everything within his power to protect his child during those crucial moments. Cabrera also highlighted that Orlin was a dedicated parent to two other children, aged 11 and 4, and emphasised the profound love he held for his family.
In the wake of this devastating loss, a GoFundMe campaign has been launched by Rosi, who is identified as Dariel-Rodriguez’s wife and the grieving mother of Jared. She expressed her desire to have her husband and son returned to their home country of Honduras for burial. “I ask for your assistance and would be eternally grateful for your support,” she conveyed in an English translation of her fundraiser description.
The GoFundMe page aims to help the family with costs associated with repatriation and is receiving an outpouring of support from the community as they come together during this challenging time. Rosi has yet to comment publicly following the initial announcement of the fundraiser.
