We realised the technology is there for us.” This led to the decision to utilise AI technology to recreate Kilmer’s likeness and voice for the film.
To create a convincing digital representation, the film crew evaluated a collection of Kilmer’s younger images, alongside footage from his later years that captured the nuances of the character through different life stages. Notably, the project also involves synthesising Kilmer’s voice, which had undergone significant changes following a tracheostomy related to his throat cancer treatment.
