The 33-year-old singer and actress disclosed that she wore the new foundation during various high-profile events over the past year, including the Oscars and her very own wedding to Benny Blanco. In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, Gomez expressed her desire for her bridal look to be soft yet matte, stating, “I felt like these are the pictures I want to look back at when I’m hopefully 80, and I’m like, ‘Wow, I remember that time.’”
Gomez recounted her wedding day, mentioning how the foundation held up through the excitement and traditional festivities. “On my wedding day, I was sweating. I was so excited, so nervous; my hair was having little curls come out from my sweat, but my makeup was fine!” she assured, praising the product’s durability.

The True To Myself foundation is being marketed as a self-priming and self-setting formula, offering a natural-matte finish that comes in a staggering 48 shades. This extensive range is designed to cater to various skin tones and undertones, aiming to promote inclusivity. Gomez described the foundation’s unique texture, which is airy and mousse-like while delivering a matte finish.
“During the week, I like to use one pump for a subtle coverage, but for a glamorous night out, you can layer it on for full coverage,” she explained, highlighting its buildable nature. The innovative packaging of the foundation is also noteworthy, featuring a capless design that includes a wide pump, facilitating easier use for those with dexterity challenges. Gomez expressed her commitment to ensuring that her products are accessible, stating, “I want my products to feel comfortable for people who have any sort of challenges that way.”

The foundation aims to streamline the makeup process by reducing the number of steps typically involved. “We know what people want, and I think what people really want is professional products, but accessible to them and easy to use,” said Gomez. She admitted her own frustration with lengthy routines and designed the foundation as a quick solution that can easily be applied while still allowing for layering when desired.
The development of the True To Myself foundation was a meticulous process, taking three years to perfect. Gomez shared her excitement about its release, stating, “We’ve learned a lot as a company, so I’m super stoked that it’s out now.” As she anticipates the feedback from consumers, Gomez described the foundation as one of her personal favourites from the Rare Beauty line, expressing her hopes that it resonates with others as much as it does with her.
As anticipation builds for its official launch, the True To Myself Natural Matte Longwear Foundation will be available for purchase both on Rare Beauty’s website and at Sephora starting April 2. With its unique features and inclusive approach, Gomez’s newest addition to her cosmetics line is expected to make a significant impact in the beauty industry.
