A nine-year-old girl who went missing in Kentucky has tragically been confirmed dead, prompting an outpouring of grief from her family and the local community. Jenny Dim was reported missing after she walked away from her home in Florence on March 13. Authorities described her as non-verbal and issued an IAN alert, a system designed to assist in finding missing children, particularly those with autism or mental health challenges.

Jenny was last seen around 5 p.m. on MacIntosh Lane, wearing a mint blue jacket, pink headphones, and no shoes. The Boone County Sheriff’s Office released details describing her appearance in an effort to locate her quickly. Search efforts covered a four-square-mile area, including investigations into nearby bodies of water, which involved the Boone County Water Rescue team and the Hamilton County Search and Rescue.
Sadly, on March 14, Kentucky State Police confirmed that Jenny had been found deceased. In a statement announcing the cancellation of the IAN alert, the police said, “This is not the outcome we had hoped for. We thank all first responders, the public, and the media for their efforts during this investigation.” Subsequent updates indicated that her body had been discovered in a pond close to her home by the Hamilton County Underwater Search and Recovery Unit.
Following this devastating news, Jenny’s family released a heartfelt statement through her aunt, Julie Par. Expressing their profound sorrow, they said, “Although our hearts are deeply broken by this loss, we find comfort in knowing that Jenny has finally found peace and rest in our Heavenly Father’s arms. We hold onto our faith and trust that she is now safe, at peace, and surrounded by God’s love.” Par emphasised the deep love the family held for Jenny, vowing that her memory would be cherished forever.
Moreover, Par expressed gratitude for the support received during this painful time, thanking law enforcement and community members for their assistance. Although the outcome was not what they had prayed for, she acknowledged the collective support, noting, “We trust that everything is ultimately in God’s hands. Thank you all again for your love, prayers, and support during this incredibly difficult time.”
In response to the tragedy, a GoFundMe campaign was initiated to assist Jenny’s family. The fundraiser has already raised over $10,000, with contributions going towards ongoing care for Jenny’s brother, who has autism. The family conveyed their heartfelt appreciation for the outpouring of kindness from the community, stating, “Your kindness means more than words can express. God bless!”
