**Ten-Year-Old Boy Overcomes Health Challenges with Unwavering Spirit**

Ten-year-old Charlie Fielding has shown remarkable resilience in the face of severe health challenges that have marked his young life. Born prematurely at just 30 weeks, Charlie’s journey took a staggering turn when he was diagnosed with a rare vascular condition known as Arteriovenous Malformation (AVM) at merely 18 months old. This disorder is characterised by an abnormal connection between arteries and veins, bypassing normal capillaries, and often occurs around the spinal cord.

In 2019, Charlie’s father, Jamie Fielding, shared the heart-wrenching news that his son was later diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL), a type of cancer that affects both the blood and bone marrow and is known for its aggressive nature. “To have two life-changing medical episodes before the age of four seemed so cruel,” Jamie remarked in an interview. The weight of these setbacks at such a tender age has stunned both Charlie’s family and healthcare professionals alike.

Following his cancer diagnosis, Charlie faced a series of difficult treatments, enduring the highs and lows associated with battling childhood cancer. Fortunately, he completed his treatment in 2022 and, despite the challenges he has faced, has maintained an uplifting spirit. “How unlucky could one child be?” Jamie lamented, highlighting the heartbreak that many families endure when confronted with such unforeseen health issues.

Jamie mentioned that Charlie’s favourite activity during these sessions is target practice, indicating a playful spirit in the face of adversity. “He loves to throw things at targets,” his father commented, emphasising the boy’s enthusiasm.

Sport remains a significant aspect of Charlie’s life. His father shared that he is a keen sports lover and refuses to allow his paralysis or cancer diagnosis to diminish his passion for physical activities. Inspired by online challenges, Charlie has developed his own unique trick, reminiscent of Sir David Beckham’s famous beach bins challenge—throwing a ball into a bin. This adaptability and enthusiasm resonate with many supporters, prompting soccer clubs across England to take notice.

In a show of solidarity, Worthing Football Club organised a fundraising event for Charlie, featuring a “bin shoot-out” during the half-time interval. These events have not only provided financial support for his medical needs but have also raised awareness of the challenges faced by children like Charlie, who embody resilience and determination.

With funds being raised, Jamie Fielding has launched a GoFundMe campaign to assist in securing special equipment and treatments that are not available through the National Health Service (NHS).
