TIME magazine has unveiled its annual selection of the world’s most remarkable places to visit and stay, and this year’s roundup includes a notable entry from the theme park sector. Universal Orlando Resort’s Epic Universe theme park, which opened its doors to the public in May 2025, has been named one of TIME’s World’s Greatest Places of 2026 in the “Places to Visit” category for North America.

Epic Universe has garnered significant acclaim since its launch, representing the first major new theme park in the United States in over two decades. The park enriches Universal Orlando’s existing offerings, which include three other theme parks, and features five uniquely themed lands: The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic, How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk, Super Nintendo World, Dark Universe, and Celestial Park.
TIME highlighted the park’s immersive portals that transport visitors to fantastical realms, setting it apart as a must-visit destination. Notably, the section dedicated to Harry Potter offers thrilling experiences such as a ride titled “Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry,” which allows guests to delve into a magically reimagined version of 1920s Paris.

Another attraction raising the stakes at Epic Universe is the Stardust Racers ride located within Celestial Park. This dual-launch coaster, which reaches exhilarating speeds of up to 62 miles per hour, promises riders an unforgettable journey among the stars. Climbing to a staggering height of 133 feet, guests are treated to an atmosphere punctuated by “ethereal music,” enhancing the otherworldly experience.
In addition to the theme park, TIME praised the newly inaugurated Universal Helios Grand Hotel, a Loews property. This hotel uniquely features a dedicated entrance directly to the park, marking a first for any Universal resort. The convenience of this access is expected to enhance the visitor experience for those eager to make the most of their time at the park.
While Universal Orlando stood out for its theme park additions, Disney was not left unrecognised. The entertainment giant’s Disney Destiny cruise ship, which embarked on its maiden voyage in November 2025, also made it onto TIME’s prestigious list. This vessel, the seventh in Disney Cruise Line’s fleet, boasts a distinct heroes and villains theme aimed at capturing the hearts of both adult enthusiasts and family audiences alike.
TIME compiles its annual list through a blend of nominations from a global network of correspondents and an application process that allows various establishments to enter. The final selections highlight a diverse array of destinations, spanning hotels, restaurants, museums, attractions, and more.
Recent data from the outlet indicates a resurgence in global travel, with a reported 4% increase in tourists venturing abroad in 2025, resulting in approximately 1.5 billion international travellers. This uptick showcases a renewed enthusiasm for exploring the world’s offerings, including newly launched experiences such as Epic Universe.
As the travel sector continues its recovery post-pandemic, destinations that provide unique and immersive experiences, such as Epic Universe, are likely to thrive as tourists seek vibrant and engaging adventures. With its blend of cutting-edge attractions and themed environments, Universal Orlando Resort is poised to remain a key player in the attractions landscape for years to come.
