Bobby Cannavale has expressed unparalleled pride in his partner Rose Byrne following her nomination for Best Actress at the Oscars. Speaking on SiriusXM’s The Julia Cunningham Show, Cannavale enthusiastically shared his excitement about attending the prestigious ceremony, scheduled for March 15.

Byrne, 46, has received her first-ever Academy Award nomination for her outstanding performance in the psychological thriller *If I Had Legs I’d Kick You*, directed by Mary Bronstein. Released by A24 last October, the film has garnered significant acclaim, placing Byrne in contention against prominent talents such as Jessie Buckley, Kate Hudson, Renate Reinsve, and Emma Stone.
During the show, Cannavale, who is 55, marvelled at the overwhelming support and attention Byrne has received. He joked about how his friends were constantly inquiring about her success. “Everyone’s asking me how I’m doing,” he remarked, before adding, “I’m on the sun. I’m as close to the centre of the sun as I can be,” emphasising his unbridled happiness for his partner.
The couple, who have been together since 2012 and share two children, Rocco and Rafael, have built a strong and supportive partnership in the competitive world of acting. Cannavale reflected on Byrne’s extensive experience in the industry, noting her “great goodwill” and hard work over the years. He conveyed his pride, stating, “I’m really, really just proud of her. I’m proud to stand next to her.”
At the recent Golden Globe Awards, Byrne took home the accolade for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture Comedy or Musical. During her acceptance speech, she expressed her gratitude towards Cannavale, affectionately referring to him as “my husband.” She humorously shared that Cannavale could not be present at the event because he had gone to a reptile expo in New Jersey to look for a “gorgeous” bearded dragon — a pet they are adding to their family.
When asked about the bearded dragon, Cannavale playfully dismissed the notion of it becoming a regular topic of conversation in his life. He stated, “I’m not gonna keep talking about this bearded dragon for the rest of my life. He’s awesome and he’s not that interesting beyond the fact that he’s our pet.”
In addition to being involved in Byrne’s celebration, Cannavale is currently starring in Amazon Prime Video’s crime series *Scarpetta*, where he stars alongside Nicole Kidman and Jamie Lee Curtis. The series features eight episodes that were released on March 11. Looking ahead, Cannavale will also appear in the action-comedy *Judgment Day*, directed by Nicholas Stoller.
As the couple prepares for the Oscars, Cannavale’s excitement resonates with fans and supporters of both Byrne and his own career. Their journey together serves as a testament to their mutual love and respect within an industry that can often be demanding and tumultuous.
The upcoming Academy Awards ceremony will not only celebrate Byrne’s incredible talent but also highlight the couple’s enduring relationship. As they navigate this exciting new chapter in their lives, it is clear that both are committed to supporting each other’s dreams and aspirations in the world of entertainment.
