Mom and Her Boyfriend Charged After Boy, 11, Was Found Bloody Wandering Streets in His Underwear

A harrowing case of child abuse has emerged from Fox Lake, Illinois, involving a 34-year-old woman and her boyfriend, who have been charged after an 11-year-old boy was found wandering the streets in distress. The child was reportedly in a state of severe neglect and abuse, prompting an immediate response from local law enforcement.

On the morning of March 6, police received a call from an employee at a nearby business who reported seeing a young boy, bloodied and bruised, wearing nothing but his underwear. According to a press release from the Fox Lake Police Department, the boy had sought refuge inside the store, asking for help. Officers arrived to find the child with visible injuries, including welts, scratches, and cuts on his body.

After securing the boy’s safety, police took him into protective custody and transported him to Northwestern Medicine McHenry Hospital for medical assessment. The situation escalated as investigators proceeded to the child’s home on East Grand Avenue, where they encountered the boy’s mother, Priscilla Marshall.

Marshall was subsequently arrested following her discussions with the police. During the investigation, officers discovered two additional children, aged one and two, inside the residence, both of whom appeared unharmed. Two other siblings were determined to be at school at the time of the incident. All four children were taken into protective custody and later referred to the Lake County Child Advocacy Center for medical evaluations and forensic interviews, in accordance with standard child welfare protocols.

Authorities have indicated that the 11-year-old boy allegedly suffered abuse at the hands of Marshall and her boyfriend, Cody Marion, aged 35, for several years. Reports from the investigation suggest that the child had been subjected to physical punishment using household objects, had dish soap poured into his mouth and ears, and was denied access to education by being prohibited from attending school regularly.

Following the forensic interviews with the young victim, detectives returned to the home and apprehended Marion. Both suspects now face serious charges, including aggravated battery to a child, two counts of domestic battery, and endangering the life or health of a child. The detention hearing revealed further alarming details, with the boy informing investigators that the abuse had persisted for years prior to his escape.

Marshall and Marion were both taken to the Lake County Jail, where they made their initial court appearances shortly after being charged. Marion’s detention hearing took place on March 9, while Marshall appeared in court on March 10.

In light of the distressing circumstances, the Lake County Department of Children and Family Services has been notified of the case. Following the protocol, the children have been placed in the temporary custody of an extended family member while the legal proceedings unfold.
