Renowned social media personality Cameron Turner, known for their popular YouTube channel Cam&Fam, recently opened up about their current life in a heartfelt update. On February 27, in a TikTok video lasting almost six minutes, the 24-year-old discussed several significant changes they have been experiencing. One notable update is their decision to be known as Cameron, a departure from their previous identity. Turner, who prefers they/them pronouns, explained the reasoning behind this shift, stating, “My name is Camryn, and it’s spelled C-A-M-R-Y-N. That’s the name I was given, have had it my whole life.”

In a candid moment, Turner revealed how they started being called Cam when they began their social media journey, despite it not being a nickname they had used before. Reflecting on this, Turner expressed that the name change to Cameron felt more fitting and androgynous, aligning with their gender identity. They shared, “When I read my name written out with a ‘Y,’ it just feels like a girl name. It was my name when I was living as a girl.” Turner, a parent to two children, disclosed their desire to reintegrate their full name Cameron but with a different spelling and also decided to change their middle name from Leigh to Owen.

Additionally, Turner disclosed their plans for chest reconstruction surgery in the video. They informed viewers that the surgery has been scheduled for August 1, with preparations already in progress. Despite initial setbacks due to insurance issues, Turner expressed optimism about the upcoming procedure and the transformative impact it will have. This decision represents a significant milestone in their journey towards self-actualization and affirming their gender identity.

Last year, Turner publicly addressed their gender identity, revealing themselves as trans-masculine and non-binary. And in a poignant moment, they shared that their children affectionately still refer to them as “Mama,” a term they have been called since infancy. Tragically, Turner’s late husband, Landon, passed away at the tender age of 19 in August 2020 following a severe brain injury.
