Maggie Gyllenhaal has opened up about her joy in collaborating with her brother, Jake Gyllenhaal, in her latest directorial project, “The Bride!”, which is set for release on 6 March 2024. The film marks a significant milestone in her career as it follows her critically acclaimed debut, “The Lost Daughter”, which received an Academy Award nomination.

In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, Maggie, who is 48, shared her experience of working with family on the film. She expressed delight over the collaboration, saying, “Honestly, I wish I could give you some more drama, but it was just such a pleasure.” This marks the first time she has directed Jake, who plays a smaller role as 1930s matinee idol Ronnie Reed. The pair last teamed up on the cult classic film “Donnie Darko” in 2001.
“The Bride!” is Maggie’s reimagining of the iconic “Bride of Frankenstein.” Featuring talented cast members including Jessie Buckley in the lead role and Christian Bale as the creature, the film incorporates elements of horror and comedy, showcasing the complexities of identity and acceptance. Describing her brother’s performance, Maggie said, “You see in the movie, he’s kind of more of a cameo.
