In the court documents submitted on 27 February, Perry denied “each and every allegation” contained within Rodriguez’s lawsuit. He also laid out a comprehensive defence, detailing 19 points that challenge the validity of the claims being made against him. Perry’s attorneys assert that not only does the lawsuit lack merit, but that Rodriguez did not suffer any damages and that any interactions between the two were consensual.
The court filing indicates that Perry believes this lawsuit is a direct consequence of his alleged decision to terminate financial support for Rodriguez. The actor and filmmaker’s legal team contends that Rodriguez is attempting to exploit and manipulate the situation to secure financial gain. He had previously assisted Rodriguez with living expenses, medical bills, and other financial support after Rodriguez appeared in a minor role in Perry’s film ‘Boo! A Madea Halloween’ around a decade ago.
