**Savannah Bee Company Issues Nationwide Recall for Mislabelled Honey BBQ Sauce**

Savannah Bee Company has issued a recall for its Honey BBQ Sauce-Mustard following a labelling error that could pose a serious health risk to individuals with specific allergies. The announcement, made on 27th February, highlights safety concerns regarding the mislabelled 16 fl. ounce bottles, which instead contain the “Honey BBQ Sauce – Sweet”, a product that includes undeclared allergens.
The issue came to light when a customer contacted Savannah Bee Company about the mislabelling on their products. The recalled item, marketed as “Honey BBQ Sauce-Mustard,” actually contains wheat and soy—ingredients that can provoke severe allergic reactions in susceptible individuals, as noted by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The FDA emphasised that the unlabelled allergens could lead to potentially life-threatening consequences for anyone affected.
Upon review, the FDA identified that the Honey BBQ Sauce – Sweet was misrepresented with the Honey BBQ Sauce-Mustard label. Photographic evidence submitted to the agency indicated stark differences; the correctly labelled Honey BBQ Sauce-Mustard is typically light yellow, whereas the incorrect sweet sauce features a dark brown appearance.
In response to the consumer alert, Savannah Bee Company promptly initiated an internal investigation. The company confirmed that the boxes containing the incorrectly labelled products failed to list wheat and soy among their ingredients, despite the presence of these allergens in the actual contents.
The FDA has taken the opportunity to remind the public about the risks of allergenic ingredients, especially in cases where foods are mislabelled. The agency reiterated that consumers with allergies or severe sensitivities to wheat or soy should strictly avoid the affected product, as ingestion could lead to serious health risks.
The mislabelled Honey BBQ Sauce-Mustard was distributed widely, reaching retail stores and consumers nationwide between the dates of 30th July 2025 and 26th February 2026. The affected products feature a clear glass bottle with an orange label, and are identifiable by lot number “B1L1360525” with a best before date of “16th May 2027”.
Savannah Bee Company has urged consumers who have purchased the affected sauce to dispose of it immediately to mitigate health risks. They have also stated that customers can claim a full refund by returning the product after proper disposal.
