**FX Series to Depict JFK Jr. and Carolyn Bessette’s Private Wedding**

The much-anticipated upcoming episode of the FX series “Love Story: JFK Jr. and Carolyn Bessette,” scheduled for release on March 5, will focus on the couple’s intimate wedding held in 1996. This event took place at a chapel on Georgia’s Cumberland Island and was attended by just 40 close friends and family members.
Sarah Pidgeon, who portrays Bessette in the series, expressed her excitement about recreating the wedding scene. According to Pidgeon, the chapel used for filming was a stunning replica of the original, enhancing the magical quality of the experience. “Being in the chapel that they built to replicate the chapel that John and Carolyn were married in, the candlelight, seeing all of the cast members there as well — it was completely magical,” she remarked in an interview with Glamour.
The production team endeavoured to stay true to the essence of the original wedding. Pidgeon noted that the scenes mirrored visuals from the documentary “The Lost Tapes” that covered the couple’s nuptials, describing the experience as evocative. “It really felt like I was transported back to that time and to that chapel in Georgia,” she added, emphasising the effort made to authentically capture the atmosphere.
Attention to detail also extended to the costumes. Pidgeon teased that her on-screen wedding dress was wonderfully elegant, reflecting Bessette’s iconic style. The commitment to authenticity in the series was echoed by creator Connor Hines, who highlighted the extensive research conducted in crafting the couple’s story. “We made sure that everything had an essence of truth and nothing felt like an aberration from their real story,” he stated.
Despite the knowledge surrounding the wedding, there remain uncertainties about other elements of the event. Executive producer Brad Simpson admitted, “We know a lot about their wedding, but we don’t know everything — what was the night before, what the speeches were exactly like.” As a result, the series offers an interpretation based on diligent research and the creative vision of its makers.
The casting of Pidgeon and Paul Anthony Kelly, who plays JFK Jr., initially garnered mixed responses from fans shortly before filming commenced. Pidgeon reflected on this criticism, acknowledging the strong affection that the public holds for the couple. “It reminded me of the weight of this responsibility and wanting to do these people justice,” she shared, asserting her determination to honour Bessette’s legacy through her portrayal.
“Love Story” draws inspiration from Elizabeth Beller’s book, “Once Upon a Time: The Captivating Life of Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy,” exploring the profound yet complicated relationship between Kennedy and Bessette. The series delves into how their private love became a source of public fascination, highlighting the pressures of fame as their romance developed in the spotlight.
In addition to Pidgeon and Kelly, the cast includes notable actors such as Naomi Watts as Jackie Kennedy Onassis, Grace Gummer as Caroline Kennedy, and Alessandro Nivola as Calvin Klein. The series aims to shed light not only on JFK Jr. and Bessette’s love story but also on the events and challenges they faced amidst overwhelming media scrutiny.
