Following a midseason break, CBS’s popular series ‘Fire Country’ is set to resume with new episodes on 27 February. The show, which features Max Thieriot as Bode Leone, a convict enrolled in a firefighting programme in his small Northern California town, had paused after an intense midseason finale that aired on 19 December.

New episodes will return to the series’ regular time slot on Fridays at 9 p.m. ET. The show’s creator, Tia Napolitano, has characterised the second half of the fourth season as being particularly substantial in storyline, hinting that viewers can expect significant developments.
Just weeks ahead of its return, CBS announced the renewal of ‘Fire Country’ for a fifth season, reflecting its popularity among audiences who have been tuning in to watch an average of over 8 million viewers each episode. The success of ‘Fire Country’ has also led to the creation of a spin-off series, ‘Sheriff Country’, which debuted in October of the previous year.
In a recent interview with Parade, Napolitano hinted at a major twist awaiting viewers in the midseason premiere. She indicated that this unexpected development will profoundly affect Bode and propel the narrative for the remainder of the season. The forthcoming episode, which is the tenth in the current season, will see Station 49 confronting a significant wildfire, leading to difficult decisions on the ground that will pose complex questions back at headquarters.
Additionally, Napolitano teased plans for an upcoming crossover, which has sparked speculation among fans about a potential appearance by Sheriff Mickey Fox, portrayed by Morena Baccarin. Introduced in season two of ‘Fire Country’, Fox is interwoven within the show’s universe as the stepsister of Cal Fire Division Chief Sharon (played by Diane Farr). Farr subsequently expressed her enthusiasm about this familial link, suggesting it adds depth to her character.
In total, season four comprises 20 episodes. Following the nine episodes that were aired prior to the midseason break, fans can anticipate at least 11 more episodes in the upcoming weeks. Thieriot has previously indicated that viewers will witness a different side of Bode in this season, particularly after the emotional toll of his father Vince Leone’s death in the third season finale.
“This season presents Bode with various crossroads, challenging him emotionally and physically,” Thieriot explained in an interview with Good Housekeeping. He emphasized that the overarching theme revolves around resilience and the idea of rising from adversity.
As for the scheduling, the first episode after the break, titled “On the Carpet,” will be followed weekly by subsequent episodes. The confirmed dates for the next few episodes are as follows: “Elite of the Elite” on 6 March and “Life of a Firefighter” on 13 March.
