The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation has unveiled its list of nominees for the class of 2026, with a noteworthy introduction of three high-profile artists who are making their debut on the ballot. The trio of Pink, Jeff Buckley, and Shakira joins a stellar list of 17 performers nominated for this prestigious accolade, which aims to honour those who have made an indelible mark on the music industry.

John Sykes, Chairman of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation, expressed enthusiasm for the breadth of this year’s nominations. He noted that the diverse list of honourees reflects the ongoing transformation of rock and roll and its sustained influence on youth culture. “Induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is music’s highest honour, and we look forward to celebrating the Class of 2026 this Fall,” he remarked.
Nominations for the Hall of Fame are determined based on the artist’s eligibility, which is set at 25 years after their first commercial recording. The voting process involves a panel of over 1,200 industry professionals, including artists and historians, who will assess candidates on their cultural impact, influence on fellow musicians, and the longevity of their careers.
The final inductees for the class of 2026 will be announced in April, alongside recipients of several special awards, such as the Musical Influence Award, Musical Excellence Award, and the Ahmet Ertegun Non-Performer Award. The induction ceremony itself is scheduled to take place in the autumn, with specific dates yet to be confirmed.
Recent years have seen a range of iconic figures receive induction, with last year’s honourees including the likes of Bad Company, Cyndi Lauper, and OutKast. Lauper herself, reflecting on the experience, stated in a recent interview, “You know, I’ve been singing rock and roll most of my life, so I know I’m a rocker.” She recounted her struggles with different musical genres, including being reprimanded for her dedication to her rock band while studying at jazz school.
