Five individuals were hospitalised following an explosion at a charity event held at The Lambing Shed Farm Shop and Kitchen in Knutsford, Cheshire, on Saturday, February 21. Among the injured were four employees of the farm shop, prompting immediate concern for their wellbeing.

The incident took place around 1 p.m. local time during a fundraiser in support of the North West Air Ambulance Charity. According to a spokesperson from Cheshire Police, preliminary investigations suggest that a gas canister associated with a food truck at the event was the source of the explosion. Emergency services arrived promptly to treat those affected, with all injuries reported as non-life-threatening.
In a statement shared on social media, The Lambing Shed confirmed that four of their staff members sustained injuries during the explosion. “They are currently receiving medical care and are being supported by their families,” the establishment relayed, emphasising their gratitude towards emergency responders for their quick and efficient action.
The farm shop, situated approximately 20 miles south of Manchester and also known as Moseley Hall Farm, decided to cancel the second day of the planned event. All operations were ceased in order to prioritise the health and safety of their employees and customers. “Our thoughts are with our injured colleagues and everyone affected. We are cooperating fully with the relevant authorities as they investigate the incident,” the statement added.
The charity fundraiser, named the Big Machine Weekend, had completely sold out, attracting a significant number of attendees, which included families and children drawn to the variety of attractions on offer. Visitors could look forward to a display of large tractors and machinery, along with entertainment activities such as a bouncy castle and a wide selection of food and drinks.
Local resident Daniella Grainger-Leigh attended the event with her two young children and recounted the terrifying moments following the explosion. “It was pretty scary and I think quite a few people were shaken up. My boys were, and my older one still isn’t quite himself,” she commented on the farm’s Facebook post. She extended her wishes for a speedy recovery to those injured in the incident.
