In a surprising turn of events, Pilar Weidman found herself giving birth to her son in the parking lot of a Carl’s Jr. fast-food restaurant and even deliberated naming the baby in honour of the chain. The incident took place in Arizona in May 2024, where Pilar’s unique birth story unfolded, creating a buzz in the community.

Recounting the harrowing yet unforgettable experience, Pilar shared with Today how she had initially overlooked the signs of impending labour while busy straightening her hair. Realising the severity of the situation, she hurried to the car with her husband Dustin, feeling the intensity of the contractions escalate rapidly.

The urgency of the moment struck them as they rushed to a nearby medical facility only to be turned away due to the absence of a maternity ward. With no time to spare, Pilar made the courageous decision to instruct Dustin to pull over as she knew the baby was on its way.
The couple found themselves in a serendipitous location – the parking lot of a Carl’s Jr. restaurant. Unable to reach the hospital in time, Pilar gave birth to a healthy baby boy in the car, weighing 6 lbs. 5 ounces. The proud mother later described the chaotic birth as a “crazy day” in a Facebook post, encapsulating the whirlwind of emotions she must have felt.
Assistance arrived swiftly as emergency responders, including “tall, incredibly good-looking firefighters,” came to their aid. Despite suggestions to name the baby Carl after the fast-food chain, the couple decided to stick with their original choice, David. The heartwarming tale caught the attention of Carl’s Jr., who sent the Weidman family a generous gift basket filled with baby essentials and gift cards to celebrate the newborn’s arrival.
Reflecting on the unexpected turn of events, a spokesperson for Carl’s Jr. expressed their delight in being a part of David’s extraordinary entrance into the world. The company extended an invitation for the family to enjoy a meal on the house, taking joy in the thought that David’s first taste of Carl’s Jr. would be a memorable one.
In a world filled with unpredictable moments, Pilar’s birth story serves as a testament to the resilience and adaptability of mothers everywhere. The Weidman family’s experience at the Carl’s Jr. parking lot has certainly left an indelible mark, blending the realms of fast food and childbirth in a truly unique way.
