Grace Morgan, a talented actor and loving mother of two, has recently made a remarkable decision to uproot her family from the suburban comforts of Fishers, Indiana, back to the bustling streets of New York City. In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, Grace shared her inspiring journey of resilience, self-discovery, and the pursuit of her lifelong dreams.

Originally from Fishers, Ind., Grace had always dreamed of a career in acting in the vibrant city of New York. She and her husband, Daniel Berryman, made the move to the Big Apple post-graduate in 2012, where they experienced success in their respective acting careers. Grace even landed the coveted role of Christine Daae in The Phantom of the Opera National Tour, while her husband performed in Les Misérables on tour.

However, in 2019, after welcoming their first son, the couple made the difficult decision to move back to Fishers in search of stability for their growing family. The suburban life posed unexpected challenges for Grace, especially during the isolating time of the COVID-19 pandemic. Grace found herself struggling with what she believed was postpartum depression, only to later discover that she was dealing with undiagnosed ADHD, which added another layer of complexity to her experience.
The peace and tranquillity of suburban life turned out to be a source of distraction and restlessness for Grace, exacerbating her struggles with ADHD. Feeling like she was “drowning,” Grace realised that the vibrant energy of New York City had actually provided her with the focus and stimulation she needed to thrive. In March 2022, Grace and Daniel made the bold decision to move their family back to the Upper West Side of Manhattan in pursuit of her passion for acting and the creative arts.
The transition back to city life came with its challenges, including the high cost of living and adjusting to a smaller living space. However, Grace found solace in the vibrant culture, endless opportunities for creativity, and the supportive community of fellow dreamers in the city. Despite initial concerns about her children adapting to city life, Grace was pleasantly surprised by how well they settled in, forming new friendships and embracing the diverse experiences the city had to offer.
With her children now in elementary school, Grace has been able to dedicate more time to her creative pursuits, including networking, auditioning, and exploring her artistic talents. Being surrounded by like-minded individuals and immersing herself in the rich arts scene of New York has been a transformative experience for Grace, both personally and professionally.
Since returning to the city, Grace has achieved significant milestones in her acting career, including performances in Broadway productions, collaborations with renowned artists, and founding The Upper West Side Children’s Choir with her husband. Through her journey, Grace hopes to inspire other mothers not to give up on their passions and dreams, showing that with determination and creative planning, it is possible to pursue a fulfilling career while embracing motherhood.
Grace’s story serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of self-discovery, resilience, and never losing sight of one’s dreams. Her courage to navigate through challenges, embrace change, and pursue her passion is truly inspirational, showcasing the transformative power of following one’s heart and never giving up on oneself. As Grace continues to thrive in the bustling energy of New York City, her journey is a testament to the resilience and strength of the human spirit.
