Prince Harry graced the screens of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, bringing his charm and wit to a mock Hallmark Christmas movie audition. The Duke of Sussex playfully joked about auditioning for a role in ‘The Gingerbread Prince Saves Christmas in Nebraska’ during the show’s segment on made-for-TV Christmas movies.
The Late Show host, Stephen Colbert, set the stage for Harry’s unexpected appearance by poking fun at the unrealistic expectations these movies set, where Americans often find love with royalty during the holiday season. As Colbert discussed the improbable scenarios portrayed in the films, Prince Harry surprised everyone by walking onstage, eager to audition for a Hallmark Channel movie role.
In a light-hearted exchange, Harry inquired about the audition process, with Colbert suggesting that having connections in show business was essential. The banter between the two men added a humorous touch to the segment, with Harry even joking about settling a baseless lawsuit with the White House to secure a role – much to Colbert’s amusement.
As the audition sketch unfolded, there was a moment of almost-kisses between Harry and Colbert, complete with fake snow falling around them. The comedic chemistry between the prince and the host culminated in a mock acceptance of Harry as the “official Late Show prince of Christmas,” adding to the entertainment value of the segment.
Prior to his appearance on The Late Show, Prince Harry surprised viewers by popping up in Meghan Markle’s latest Netflix special, With Love, Meghan: Holiday Celebration. The heartwarming scene showed Harry joining his wife in the kitchen as she prepared her mother’s cherished Christmas Eve gumbo recipe, alongside Top Chef judge Tom Colicchio.
Colbert’s teasing of Harry’s appearance on the show included a social media video featuring the Duke of Sussex playfully imitating a Great British Bake Off co-host. The humorous video set the stage for Harry’s playful interaction with Colbert during the audition sketch, showcasing the prince’s comedic side.
Overall, Prince Harry’s impromptu audition and comedic timing on The Late Show offered a delightful and entertaining twist to the traditional holiday TV specials. His willingness to engage in light-hearted banter and mock auditions demonstrated his versatility and charm, earning him laughs and applause from the audience.
The Duke of Sussex continues to captivate viewers with his charismatic personality and willingness to participate in fun-filled segments like the Christmas movie audition on The Late Show.
