Zachery Ty Bryan, known for his role in Home Improvement, was arraigned on December 3 following his arrest on November 29 for allegedly violating his probation in a confrontation involving his fiancée, Johnnie Faye Cartwright. The court records obtained by PEOPLE suggest that Bryan has been moved to a different facility and is scheduled for a hearing later this month as he contests the probation violation allegation.

Bryan, 44, denied the charges related to breaching the terms of his probation linked to a previous domestic violence conviction. Initially denied bail, he was given an “end of sentence date” set for December 3. However, he has since been transferred to Lane County Community Corrections where he remains in custody under a “detainer.” This programme allows offenders to partake in approved activities such as work or drug treatment while residing in a structured setting.

According to reports, Bryan’s fiancée, Johnnie Faye Cartwright, was also arrested on the same day as him. Cartwright faced her arraignment on December 1 where she pleaded not guilty to charges, including driving under the influence and endangering others. The arrest stemmed from an incident on November 29 where Lane County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report regarding reckless endangerment involving Bryan and Cartwright with their three young children.

Following the incident at Big Fall Creek Road, Cartwright allegedly attempted to run over Bryan with the truck containing their children inside, leading to a crash into a ditch. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. Both Bryan and Cartwright showed signs of impairment during interviews with deputies. The situation escalated due to a court order prohibiting Bryan from contacting Cartwright, leading to their arrests on severe charges.

This recent legal entanglement adds to Bryan’s history of legal issues, marking his sixth arrest in five years. Previous incidents include domestic violence allegations and DUI charges. Bryan has a troubled legal past, having faced accusations of strangling a woman in the past, for which he pled guilty to misdemeanor charges of domestic violence. In the following years, he also admitted to a fourth-degree felony assault charge and faced multiple DUI arrests.

The couple, engaged since November 2021, shares three young children. Despite their turbulent legal history, they continue to navigate through the repercussions of their actions. Bryan’s attorney has been approached for comments on the recent developments, shedding light on the ongoing legal battles confronted by the actor and his fiancée.
