The family of Siena University men’s lacrosse coach, Liam Gleason, has been left reeling after he sustained a traumatic brain injury from a fall down a flight of stairs at his family home. The unfortunate incident occurred on Sunday, Nov. 30, in Halfmoon, New York, according to reports from the local Times Union. Gleason, a 41-year-old college lacrosse coach, was rushed to the hospital following the fall and is currently undergoing treatment.

In response to the medical emergency, Gleason’s family has set up a GoFundMe campaign to cover the escalating medical expenses. The fundraising efforts have garnered significant support, with donations exceeding $400,000 within a short period. The family expressed their heartfelt appreciation for the outpouring of generosity, stating, “The Gleason family has suffered the most unimaginable tragedy with Liam suffering a traumatic brain injury.”
Siena University has refrained from disclosing further details about Gleason’s condition, out of respect for his privacy and that of his family. In a statement shared on social media by Times Union sports reporter Mark Singelais, the university conveyed, “Men’s lacrosse head coach Liam Gleason was involved in a serious accident yesterday [Nov. 30] and has been hospitalized. Out of respect for Coach Gleason and his family, no additional information will be provided at this time.” The university has urged the public to keep Coach Gleason and his family in their thoughts and prayers during this challenging time.
Originally hailing from Wading River, Long Island, Gleason has a strong coaching background, having previously served as an assistant coach at Siena before taking the helm as the head coach at the University of Albany. He eventually returned to Siena in 2018 to lead the men’s lacrosse team, achieving remarkable success, including being named the 2025 ECAC Coach of the Year. Under his guidance, the team secured the MAAC Championship last season and made their first NCAA Tournament appearance in over a decade.
Gleason’s wife, Jaclyn Rosada, a former collegiate soccer player at the University of Albany, is by his side throughout this trying period. The couple shares three children together: Kennedy, Penn, and Tate. Colleagues and friends have shared touching tributes to Gleason, highlighting his exemplary character and dedication to his family. Ali Jaques, former Siena women’s basketball coach, expressed her admiration for Gleason, remarking, “He is a great person… a family man. Life’s just short. I’m grateful every single day that I’ve got my husband [a cancer survivor] with me and we’re in a good place. But for those three little [Gleason] kids, that’s just absolutely tragic.”
As the lacrosse community rallies around Liam Gleason during his recovery journey, the overwhelming support serves as a testament to the impact he has made on those around him. His resilience and determination in the face of adversity continue to inspire many, shedding light on the strength of the human spirit during challenging times. The outpouring of love and solidarity for Gleason and his family reaffirms the power of unity and compassion in overcoming life’s hardships.
