Celebrity legend Diane Keaton has left behind a lasting legacy with her famed Los Angeles residence being put up for sale at a stunning price of $27 million, nearly two months post her demise. The actress, best known for her roles in films like “The Family Stone,” passed away on October 11 at the age of 79. Keaton poured her heart and soul into transforming the industrial-style property into what she described as her ultimate “dream home.” In fact, she was so inspired by the design process that she penned a book in 2017 titled ‘The House that Pinterest Built’, chronicling her creative journey.
The five-bedroom, eight-bathroom house, which Keaton had meticulously renovated over a period of eight years, had initially been listed for sale in March 2025 with a price tag of $29 million. This move came as a surprise to many, as she had previously expressed her desire to make it her permanent residence. After a price adjustment in May, the property was withdrawn from the market in September. The listing is now being managed by Andrew Gulyas of Destination Home, Inc.

Public records indicate that Keaton acquired the property in 2011 for $4.7 million. In her book, she revealed her inspiration for the design came from the childhood fable of ‘The Three Little Pigs’. The story of the third pig building a house of bricks resonated with her, leading her to envision her future dwelling as a brick house. The 9,200-square-foot property boasts an exterior adorned with vintage Chicago bricks, giving it a distinctive and timeless appeal.

Keaton’s creativity and attention to detail shine through in every aspect of the house, with even the kitchen being singled out as her favourite room. Designed with wood-beamed vaulted ceilings and striking light fixtures, the chic kitchen stands as a testament to her impeccable taste. Collaborating with architect David Takacs and designers Stephen Shadley, Cynthia Carlson, and Toben Windahl, Keaton brought her vision to life. During her time in the residence, she shared the space with her two children, Dexter and Duke, who were 29 and 25 respectively at that time.
According to a close source, Keaton’s decision to sell the property earlier in the year was influenced by her declining health. Her sudden deterioration came as a shock to her loved ones, given her strong and vibrant spirit. In her final months, she chose to keep her circle small, only surrounded by her immediate family, who respected her privacy. Despite her health struggles, Keaton’s dedication to her craft and passion for design are evident in every corner of her beloved home.
Diane Keaton’s legacy lives on not just in her memorable performances on screen but also in the architectural masterpiece she left behind. As her iconic home goes on the market, it stands as a tribute to her creative vision and enduring spirit. The sale of this property marks the end of an era while highlighting the timeless elegance and character that Diane Keaton brought to everything she touched.
