First Lady Melania Trump recently revealed the 2025 holiday decorations at the White House, with a unique addition – a Lego portrayal of President Donald Trump. The holiday theme this year is “Home Is Where The Heart Is”, featuring various intricate decorations. Among these are Lego portraits of not only President Trump but also President George Washington, displayed in the Green Room for small receptions and teas.

The Lego portraits are accompanied by wreaths adorned with red ribbons made entirely of Lego pieces. Melania drew inspiration for this year’s Christmas décor from the joys and challenges of motherhood and business. She emphasised the importance of creating a sense of ‘home’ wherever one goes, showcasing warmth and comfort regardless of the surroundings. The theme encourages celebrating love and sharing it with the world, promoting a space filled with grace and endless possibilities.

Aside from the Lego artworks, Melania’s decorations include 10,000 blue butterflies fluttering around the “Fostering the Future Red Room,” dedicated to America’s foster care community. The tree in the Red Room is embellished with ornaments referencing Melania’s “Be Best” campaign, a nod to her first-term initiative. The Blue Room features the official White House Christmas tree, commemorating Gold Star Families with ornaments representing each U.S. state and territory.
In total, the Trumps’ Christmas decorations consist of 75 wreaths with classic red bows, over 50 Christmas trees, 700 feet of garland, 25,000 feet of ribbon, and an impressive 10,000 butterflies. The display also includes a tree collar in the East Room, honouring the upcoming 250th anniversary of the United States. The extensive decorations reflect Melania’s dedication to creating a festive and welcoming atmosphere within the White House.
Melania’s artistic choices have received attention recently, with the addition of various new portraits of President Trump throughout the White House. From a dramatic painting showcasing Trump flanked by American flags to a portrait featuring late Republican Presidents Ronald Reagan and Abraham Lincoln, the walls have seen a diverse array of artworks. Notably, the White House’s aesthetic changes have included the rearrangement of presidential portraits, with Barack Obama’s image being moved from public view.
Maintaining tradition, the two most recent presidential portraits are typically displayed prominently in the Grand Foyer for public viewing. However, the reshuffling of Obama’s portrait has drawn attention, with reports indicating it has been placed further out of sight than before. The changes reflect Trump’s involvement in even the smallest details of the White House decor, showcasing his influence on the historical residence.
Overall, Melania’s holiday decorations at the White House offer a glimpse into a festive and symbolic representation of the season. From Lego portraits to intricate ornaments, each detail contributes to a unique and personalised display reflecting the theme of ‘home’. As the holiday season unfolds, the White House remains a beacon of celebration and tradition under the creative direction of First Lady Melania Trump.
