In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, Grammy-winning producer Andrew Watt unveiled a surprising hidden talent of the late rock icon, Ozzy Osbourne. Watt revealed that Osbourne, who passed away at the age of 76 in July, had a remarkable ability to devour a burrito in record time. Describing Osbourne as someone who “famously loved burritos,” Watt shared that while he could consume a burrito in about five to 10 minutes, the legendary musician could polish off a full burrito in a jaw-dropping 30 seconds. The producer recounted Osbourne’s technique, stating, “He would take the burrito, he’d bite it once on the left, once on the right, and then once he could get his mouth around [it], the burrito was gone.”

Watt reminisced about the amusing moments he shared with Osbourne, including a time when the iconic musician referred to chicken quesadillas as “chicken pancakes” while ordering Mexican food. Despite Watt’s initial confusion, Osbourne’s love for these chicken quesadillas was evident. Their culinary adventures extended to enjoying burritos together, with Osbourne displaying his exceptional speed in devouring the Mexican delicacy. Watt fondly recalled how Osbourne would request him to order burritos from his favourite Mexican restaurant, Escuela Taqueria, in Los Angeles, using the Postmates delivery service. Watt went above and beyond to ensure Osbourne received his beloved burritos, no matter where he was in the world, showcasing their close bond.

The close relationship between Watt and Osbourne extended beyond their shared love for Mexican food. Watt had the privilege of producing Osbourne’s final albums, “Ordinary Man” in 2020 and “Patient Number 9” in 2022, during Osbourne’s recovery from a 2019 accident. Reflecting on his collaboration with the Prince of Darkness, Watt acknowledged that it was a transformative experience that highlighted the profound impact music had on Osbourne. He emphasised how music provided Osbourne with a sense of purpose during challenging times, underscoring the healing power of creativity and collaboration in the face of adversity.
Through Watt’s endearing anecdotes and heartfelt recollections, a deeper insight into the personal and professional bond shared between him and Ozzy Osbourne emerges. Watt’s admiration for Osbourne’s talent and resilience shines through his storytelling, painting a vivid picture of their shared moments of laughter, music-making, and mutual respect.
