British social media influencer, Brittany Miller, has tearfully apologised for falsely claiming to have been diagnosed with cancer back in 2017. The 29-year-old, who boasts 3.5 million followers on TikTok, shared her emotional revelation in a video posted on Monday, November 10th, after reports emerged that she had previously made untrue statements about battling the disease.

In the heartfelt video, Miller disclosed the struggles she faced in 2017, citing severe mental health issues that she was grappling with at the time. She expressed deep remorse for the falsehoods she spread, explaining, “Back in 2017, I had extremely bad mental health and at the time I didn’t realise how bad, but it was bad.” Miller opened up about her battles with depression and suicidal thoughts, as well as enduring the loss of her partner and job, which all contributed to her deteriorating mental state.
The content creator admitted that during her darkest period, she had falsely informed someone close to her that she was suffering from cancer, a false statement she profoundly regrets making. Reflecting on her actions, Miller emphasised that her motives were not driven by malicious intent or a desire to deceive people for financial gain. She clarified, “I did this out of desperation, I did it to keep the people close to me… to keep the people in my life close to me.”
Addressing the fundraising page that had been set up on her behalf for cancer treatment, Miller clarified that she promptly shut it down upon realising that donations had been made towards it. She asserted that she did not benefit financially from the donations and expressed remorse for any distress or hurt she may have caused by her actions. Miller underlined that her behaviour stemmed from a place of mental illness and insisted that it was not a premeditated scam or manipulation tactic.
Having emerged from the challenging period in her life, Miller shared her journey to recovery, highlighting the importance of seeking mental wellness and surrounding herself with a supportive community. She credited her partner, Ash Griffiths, for his unwavering support during her mental health struggles and expressed gratitude for the progress she has made in her healing process.
Moving forward, Miller expressed her desire to advocate for mental health awareness and support others facing similar struggles. She conveyed her profound apologies to anyone she may have hurt or triggered with her false claims, emphasising that she has learned valuable lessons from the experience and is committed to using her platform for positive impact.
In concluding her heartfelt video, Miller expressed gratitude to her followers for their support and pledged to continue her advocacy for mental health issues.
