Efron opened up to PEOPLE, expressing his deep attachment to his rescue dog, Booey, and how the sight of a specific breed never fails to move him to tears. The 33-year-old star confided, “Booey’s a German shepherd mutt, but I grew up with Australian shepherds, which I’ll always have a soft spot for.” He elaborated, “It’s just hard for me because they look so similar, and I think of my old dog. It makes me cry when I look at them. So yeah, I don’t know, I guess shepherds in general.”
Furthermore, Efron shared the heartwarming story of how Booey became a part of his family in 2021. Originally considering a puppy after concluding filming for season 2 of ‘Down to Earth’, the actor’s perspective changed when he met a dog trainer on a movie set.
