The incident claimed the lives of Christian Akers, 35, and his son Wyatt, 7, on October 30. The pair were tragically pronounced dead after their boat overturned in the river.

One survivor managed to cling onto a tree and alerted officials that two adults and a child were in the water. Despite efforts to save them, Christian and Wyatt Akers could not be revived. Additionally, Alphonso Graham, 39, from Port Orchard, remains missing following the accident, with search efforts ongoing to locate him.
The community has been left reeling by the tragic events, with the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office expressing their deepest condolences to the friends and family of the victims. Despite the valiant search efforts, Graham has yet to be found, and further attempts are dependent on improved search conditions. Family and friends have rallied around the survivors, with a GoFundMe campaign set up to support Christian’s wife and surviving son, which has already raised over $35,000.
Christian Akers was remembered for his deep love for fishing and the outdoors, having served in the U.S. Navy and pursued a career as a nuclear electronics technician. His son Wyatt was described as having a big heart and a love for Pokemon, Legos, and soccer. The Akers’ family dog, initially lost in the accident, was thankfully rescued and returned to the family. A heartfelt celebration in honour of Christian and Wyatt Akers is planned for December 6 on Georgia’s St. Simons Island.
